“Grandpa Fritz” was my favorite grandfather’s favorite grandfather. He died exactly one year after Pearl Harbor.

His father was also Frederick Voges and his mother was Fredericke (Henze or Henz) Voges. Before that, I come to a dead end. There are a number of Vogeses in the New Braunfels and Hortontown Cemeteries but I have been unable to connect to any of them.

In Geue, A New Land Beckoned: German Immigration to Texas 1844-1847 lists a number of Voges traveling on the ship George Delius in 1845. Their destination was Comal or Guadalupe Counties. These families were either from Bodenwerder or Bissendorf. In 1846 3 single Voges men sailed on the ship Mercur. They were Ludwig, Friedrich, and Wilhelm. Only Ludwig lists he is from Bodenwerder. It is best to look at the original ship list. There may have been tick marks for place of origin and it was overlooked. Have you checked deed and probate records? These records often show connections between families.
